AXIAL · Sports performance

The squad, read before training.

AXIAL is designed to combine training load, GPS, wellness, testing and medical notes into one recommendation per athlete. We designed the visual system, marketing site and product interface around a single principle: show the call first, and keep the evidence one step away.

AXIAL marketing site concept: “Know who’s ready before training starts.” beside an athlete wearing a chest sensor, annotated with his autonomic reading (84 ms rMSSD), workload (ACWR 1.12) and a readiness score of 86 out of 100 — Full session.
The athlete in profile with his readings: A1 autonomic 84 ms rMSSD, +6% vs 28-day baseline; readiness at 06:42 is 86 out of 100 — Full session.

01The approach

Every screen is designed for the hour before 07:30.

02The signals

Show where the number comes from.

Signals diagram: seven inputs — GPS & tracking (HSR 612 m), training load (ACWR 1.12), recovery (CMJ −1.1%), wellness (soreness 2/10), strength testing (L/R 4.1%), medical (cleared), sleep & HRV (HRV +6%) — converge on a readiness score of 86, up 4 on his baseline, which resolves to the call “Full session.”: load target 620 AU, high-speed running up to 650 m, sprint exposure unrestricted.

03The call

One athlete, in context.

The same athlete at two depths. A row is enough to triage. Opened, the row becomes an argument.
AXIAL “Today” squad view for Thursday 2 October: 7 calls before 07:30, 20 of 27 available for a full session, squad readiness 81; the “Needs a call” list with each athlete’s call, reason and readiness score.
The opened athlete panel: number 23, right back, starter. AXIAL recommends “Recover” with high confidence — take him out of today’s high-speed block and re-test on Friday. Why, against his 28-day baseline: HRV 52 ms, −18%; sleep 5h 50, two short nights; soreness 7/10, hamstrings.

  1. 1

    The row

In the squad list an athlete is one line: the call, a short reason, a score. Enough to sort 27 players in a minute.

  2. 2

    The call

Opened, the recommendation becomes the headline. “Recover” is set larger than any number on the screen.

  3. 3

    The reasons

Underneath, the factors behind it, each compared with the athlete’s own 28-day baseline rather than a squad average.

04In motion

The row opens. The list stays.

The selected row stays lit as its panel opens, so staff never lose their place in the list. With reduced motion, the panel simply appears.
  1. The squad at a glance

Calls due, players available, squad readiness.

  2. Who needs a call

Only the athletes that need a decision.

  3. One athlete, one call

The recommendation and its reasons, side by side.

05In the details

Every value has a job.

06One language

The website shows the product, not a promise.

The morning brief on the marketing site is a real slice of the product, with the same calls, order and colours. A head of performance should recognise the tool before ever logging in.

Brand poster “01 — From signal to decision”: seven signals converge on a readiness of 86 and leave as one call, “Full session.” — “Seven signals in. One call out.”Brand poster “03 — Your morning, with AXIAL”: scattered sources from 06:00 resolve into one plan at the 07:30 meeting — “Walk into the meeting already knowing.”

07The system

One grammar, every surface.

Brand graphics, website and dashboard share the same logic: many inputs converge, one value resolves, one orange mark leaves. It reads as one product whether you meet it on a poster or at 06:42 on a matchday morning.

Start a conversation

Start with one sentence.

Most good projects begin with one honest line about what isn’t working. Write yours, or skip it. Either way, the call starts where your story gets stuck.
